What is a picture?
A picture is a drawing, painting, or artwork that is created on a computer. A picture is a visual representation of any object, person, or scenery on a flat surface. A picture is a graphical art that is used to take a clear image of what is being represented.
What is a photograph/photo?
A photo is a picture taken by a camera, digital camera, smartphone, or screenshot of a smartphone or computer screenshot. We can make a digital copy of a photo and can print it out.
What is a portrait?
A portrait is an artistic representation of a person created by photograph, painting, or sculpture. In a portrait, face and expression are the main elements.
Types of portraits:
- Traditional portrait
- Lifestyle portrait
- Environmental portrait
- Candid and street portrait
- Glamour portrait
- Fine arts portrait etc.
What is an image?
Types of the digital image file format
All digital file formats are in two categories.
1. Bitmap/Raster Graphics file format.
Examples: JPEG, PNG, TIFF, GIF, etc
What is a bitmap/raster image?
An image is created using a collection of pixels referred to as a bitmap/raster image.
If the width of an image is 1920 pixels and the height is 1080 pixels then we can say the image contains 1920x1080=2073600 pixels=2.0736 megapixels.
Note: A megapixel is one million pixels.
2. Vector Graphics file format.
Examples: AI, SVG, EPS, etc.
What is vector graphics?
Vector graphics are composed of paths. We can say vector graphics consist of shapes, curves, lines, and text, creating an image.
What is photo editing?
Photo editing is the structural changes of a photo. When manipulating a photo to make it look cleaner then we included color correction, clipping path, background removal/replacement, object removing, refining edges, etc. then it's called photo editing/retouching. A professional photo retoucher makes the photos attractive for the customers.
